What Can Running 1000Kms Teach You About Being A Successful Realtor? Part 1
“Running should be a lifelong activity. Approach it patiently and intelligently, and it will reward you for a long, long time.”
This year I promised myself I was going to be the poster child for video blogging. Just by sheer luck I stumbled onto a decidedly “Rick Mercer” approach but it works…for me. As many of you know I started last year with the far-fetched goal of running one hundred 10K’s. Not races, just hitting the street 100 times and running, at a minimum, 10 kilometres. A year later I met that goal but not without a few trials and tribulations. I made some interesting discoveries along the way. As it turns out, running as much as I did has a lot of similarities to running a successful real estate business.
In this video, I explain the realities of our business…There are no successful part-time agents. To be good at what you do you need to determine what your goals are, create a system for managing your time, and then stick to your plan. When you are self-employed it is easy to fall into the trap of taking an unscheduled day off. That is the worst thing a new agent can do. Success comes from working hard every day. There are no exceptions to this rule.
So what’s next? Well, now is as good a time as any to write down a goal and then figure out all the things you need to do in a day or week to get you there. Having trouble with that? Talk to your manager or coach. Next, put them in your calendar. Stick with the plan. Yes, stuff comes up. I will deal with that one in a future post.
Have a great day.
